Starting Out
Is my first game really free?
Yep. Your first league game is completely free. Come along, meet the community, and see if dodgeball is for you!
Please note: Free trial games are not available at Flemington Social.
Do I need experience before I come?
No. New players are welcome. Beginner-friendly venues and social sessions are designed so you can come in cold, learn quickly, and get involved without already knowing the game.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear active gear you can move in and non-marking indoor shoes. Bring water, arrive a little early, and be ready to jump into warm-up and briefing.
Do I need a team?
Not at all! Most of our players join on their own or with a few friends. We'll place you into an existing mixed team, making it easy to meet new people and start playing from your very first game.
What are the age limits?
Our leagues are primarily designed for adults. Players aged 16 and over are welcome to participate with parental consent. Players aged 14–15 may also be permitted to participate with parental consent, subject to league approval.
Flemington Social
What is Flemington Social?
Flemington Social is the low-commitment, drop-in option. It runs fornightly on Wednesday nights and is ideal if you want games without locking into a full season.
Do I register every week for social?
Yes, to ensure that we have the correct numbers and can plan the teams accordingly.
Is social good for beginners?
Yes. It’s one of the easiest entry points because the structure is lighter and the environment is built around fun, flow, and meeting people.
Competition & Season
How long does a season last?
Our regular seasons typically run for 14–15 weeks, excluding finals. Competitions do not operate on Public Holidays or during scheduled holiday breaks.
There is generally a 4-week break between each season.
How much does it cost?
League Games
Teams are charged $95 per game (not individual players), which works out to around $16 per player for a minimum team of 6. The larger your team, the lower the cost per player. Game fees are paid by the team captain before each game.
A $190 Team Bond is required before playing this covers any forfeits which may occur throughout the season. Any or all remaining bond is refunded at the end of the season.
Melbourne Dodgeball has NO REGISTRATION FEES!
What is league registration for?
Registration is for players who want the structured competition path: weekly fixtures, divisions, ladder results, and a fuller season experience.
Can I join league as a solo player?
Yes. The league form includes a registration type so you can tell Melbourne Dodgeball whether you’re solo, joining with friends, or bringing a full team.
How do I know which venue is right for me?
Use the Venues dropdown in the top navigation to compare nights, divisions, and session styles. If you’re still unsure, pick the venue that best matches your availability and experience level.
Should I try a free game before league?
If you are undecided, yes. The free game route is the best first step because it lets you get a feel for pace, rules, and atmosphere before committing to a season.
What happens after I register?
After registering, our league manager will contact you to book your FREE TRIAL game.
Individuals & small groups: Usually placed into games right away.
Full teams: Can usually join the current season if registered before the halfway point. Registrations after halfway will start in the next season.
My team needs substitutes. What should I do?
If your team is short on players, we recommend posting in our Dodgeballers of Victoria Facebook community. Many players in the community are available to help and may be able to fill in for your game.
Join Dodgeballers of Victoria on Facebook and make a post with your game details.
Before sourcing a substitute, please review our subbing rules to ensure your replacement is eligible to play.
Are there prizes?
Grand Final — Custom Jersey Voucher: Grand Final winners receive a $200 custom jersey voucher.
Top 3 — Heavyweight Medals: Premium heavyweight medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
Team Spirit — Custom MD Jerseys: Custom MD Jerseys are awarded to the team showing the most spirit throughout the season!
How do Spirit Points work? After each match, your opponents will award your team -1, 0 or +1 Spirit Points based on your sportsmanship.
Waiver, Terms, Privacy
Why do the signup pages have policy checkboxes?
All current signup forms require users to acknowledge the player waiver, terms and conditions, and privacy policy. That keeps the legal and safety side clear before someone joins a session or registers interest.
Where can I read the policies?
You can read the Player Waiver and Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy before submitting any form.
